Why Choose Us?

Picture
Noah’s Ark Preschool has been a staple in the community for over 40 years. We LOVE our families. We know how important it is to invest in not only the children entrusted to us, but their families as well. We know that the work we are doing here not only sets them up for success at school, but can make an eternal difference. We take both of those things very seriously.

Noah’s Ark has an amazing team of teachers and administrators. Our directors team has been together for over 10 years. According to a parent review, Noah’s Ark is ‘a well oiled machine.’ Our current staff of teachers have over 200 years of combined experience, and many are retired or former public school teachers.

Educational Excellence
At Noah’s Ark, we know how valuable the early educational years for children are. We know that we can help set up a child’s success by teaching with the whole child mindset. We use the Frog Street Press curriculum, which is a play based learning curriculum.

What are the advantages of choosing a preschool with a play based curriculum?

According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children, play-based learning recognizes that “children learn content while playing freely, with teacher guidance, or in a structured game. By harnessing children’s natural curiosity and their propensity to experiment, explore, problem solve, and stay engaged in meaningful activities—especially when doing so with others—teachers maximize learning while individualizing learning goals.”

A consistent finding is that, through play-based learning, children develop deep understandings of complex concepts—including cognitive constructs known as 21st century skills—in ways that are not possible through traditional academic, teacher-directed instruction, worksheets, and flashcards. These skills are things like leadership, decision making, collaborative problem solving, curiosity and critical thinking.                                                                                                       (https://teachingstrategies.com/blog/rigor-through-play-based-learning).

We also use the Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum, which uses a multisensory approach to letter formation and writing. Handwriting Without Tears is the same curriculum used in both CFISD and Tomball ISD Kindergarten classes. We also emphasize learning phonics in our Pre-K classes.

In addition to our educational curriculums, we use a Bible curriculum that was developed by our very own Noah’s Ark staff! It emphasizes teaching students about God, his creation, and how to show others love. Characteristics that are focused on in this curriculum are compassion, empathy, love, and sharing.

Enrichments
Noah’s Ark offers four enrichments to your children, at no additional cost. Depending on the days your child is enrolled, they will receive some or all of the following enrichments:

Chapel: Our Bible curriculum focuses on the entire Bible connecting Genesis to Revelation and seeing the thread of Jesus throughout the entire year. Each week students will learn a new Bible story.

Art and Science: Our Art and Science curriculum focuses on God’s creation. Each week children learn a new aspect of nature!

PE/Gymnastics: Our PE/Gymnastics curriculum helps children with movement. They will work on developmentally appropriate gross motor milestones such as balance beam, hopping, galloping, skipping, and catching/throwing a ball.

Music and Movement: Our Music and Movement curriculum focuses on both PreK TEKS for music as well as singing songs about Jesus. In music class, students will also sing Bible verses and Biblical concepts to help better connect them to memory.  The students also prepare a Spring Program in our music class.

Spanish:  Our Spanish curriculum focuses on basic vocabulary words. They will play games and learn songs in Spanish.

Our Toddler classes receive two enrichments a week. They participate in a  Music class once a week and a PE/Gymnastic class once a week that have age appropriate activities for the little ones! The music class focuses on songs about Jesus as well as movement songs that support the PE gross motor skills. The PE/Gymnastic class focuses on gross motor development to help the toddlers reach age appropriate milestones.

Learning Environment

We know the learning environment is crucial to setting the stage for learning. At Noah’s Ark, we have larger than average classrooms that allow for a calmer learning environment. Despite having oversized classrooms, our class size does not exceed twelve. Our Toddler classes have two teachers in the room at all times, and our preschool classes have a primary teacher with a floating aide.

With the ‘whole child’ mindset, we also know it is important to help children regulate emotions. Each of our classrooms have calm down areas where the teachers guide the students to better regulate emotions. There are a variety of tools in each area to help each child learn to navigate frustration.

If you are a first time preschool parent, ‘potty time’ might be something that gives you some stress. At Noah’s Ark, each classroom is equipped with a child-sized toilet to help encourage independence. Our toddler teachers help support potty training when parents begin.
